Originally from Colombia, Karen was raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, and recently relocated to Charlottesville. She earned her degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina and began her career in the healthcare field, where she developed a strong foundation in communication and problem-solving. Karen is currently pursuing an MBA at James Madison University and is excited to be part of the team at NWG, where she continues to grow professionally while applying her diverse background.

What’s the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is learning every day—no two days are ever the same, which makes the work both exciting and fulfilling.

When you’re not at work, what’s your favorite thing to do for fun?

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling whenever possible, discovering new places, spending time with my dog, Marble, and relaxing with books, puzzles, and cooking competitions or crime shows.

Name one thing about you that most people don’t know or wouldn’t expect.

One thing most people don’t expect is that I don’t really like spicy food. Many are surprised since I’m Hispanic, but Colombian cuisine typically isn’t spicy—though I’ve learned to handle a tiny bit of spice since living in the U.S.
